Dear Colleagues, Brothers and Sisters,

Russian trade unions are deeply concerned about growing internal political tensions in Turkey against a backdrop of the existing terrorist threats and armed conflict in the region, which disrupt regional and international stability.

The terrorist act of June 28 at Istanbul airport with numerous human casualties, the recent attempted coup with yet new hundreds of dead and injured – all this is turning the country, until recently peaceful and prosperous, into one of the most dangerous places today.

Turkey is our closest neighbour with whom we share traditionally strong economic, cultural and human relations. We express fraternal solidarity with the trade unions and people of Turkey as they mourn the victims of recent tragic events and sincerely wish you the soonest restoration of peace and stability in your country without resorting to violence, in strict respect for democratic principles, legal norms and human rights.
